The Bulldog started life based on the Marina, but a later incarnation, it was based on the Ford Cortina, which is the one I have. It was indeed possible to fit a Ford Essex V6 into the car. Bespoke mounting brackets were required for fitting the engine to the chassis.
The front suspension will tell you if the chassis is ford or marina based. Ford kits used the Ford wishbones and wheel hubs from the Cortina. Marina cars (correct me if I am wrong) still used trunnion's.
I think the body will also show if it is Ford based, The ford body did not have the fake engine vents on the sides.

Assuming it is Ford, re-con front callipers and new cylinders should not be too hard to find. I'm sure they will be a Ford Cortina owners club somewhere.

Well, I put it on Ebay as I got an email from them saying free listings & no selling fees (they still charged me £15)

Has provoked responses from a few people and has had over 450 views. Makes me want to keep it & get it on the road, but in reality, I don't think I ever will.

All peeps were concerned about DVLA registration. I remember getting it registered for testing just before the new SVA tests came into being, so although DVLA could not test it until after SVA came into being, it was tested to pre-SVA standard? However V5 log book clearly states SVA 05 02 2001.

The paperwork shows it was DVLA inspected and passed on 05 January 2001. Am I right in thinking SVA started from 01 January 2001? (somebody posted it was 1999)

It is not registered as a Pilgrim Bulldog, but a unique name, DVLA were happy with this & also happy to retain original donor number plate. V5 shows 'SVA 05 01 2001' and also Model as unique name and stating kit car. Date of first registration shows as when Ford Crappy donor car was first registered in 1981.

It must all be ok? DVLA even taxed it, which was a condition of getting it registered, along with insurance.

I have a Bulldog Mk 5, was only on the road to & from DVLA testing station, it passed & was registered with log book & 6 months tax, which one had to purchase when registering.
It then returned to my garage, where it was stripped ready to be painted (this took five years for my professional sprayer mate to get round to it) by which time I had lost interest, so there it sits, painted but never fully competed or reassembled (I only did the bare minimum to get it through DVLA test in case changes were needed.

Any ideas of the be best places to advertise? Been out of the kit car scene for so long, don't know if a specialist magazine, ebay or somewhere else is best?

No new findings yet. I am resonably happy with where it is now, but ideally if I could adjust it a little more that would be great. At some point I will replace the springs for slighly longer weaker ones which would improve the ride and allow me to adjust the car 8-10mm lower. I will take another look at Camber bolts to see if this is an option.

The origin of my car is unclear, I bought it from Pilgrim in 2002. It was part built, they had lost intreret in finishing it, it could have been built by Haldane and they got it with the company assets  or it could have been an demonstrator build by Pilgrim. My tracking does not appear to have any adjustments except by adjusting the height for Camber or Toe for the front wheels.

Sorry really can't help here but I'm interested in your findings.i can't remember but was your kit a pilgrim or Haldane? I remember les made adjustable top arms but that was for the front suspension though similar could be fabricated for the rear.kerp us posted with your research
