Running board strips

Have any of you got any ideas of what I can use for my running boards, as they look very plain without strips of some kind. I've thought of using some kind of 1/2" wide metallic carpet grip strips (the sort of ones for doorways but without the spikes). I've also seen some self adhesive chrome strip on ebay, but it's only a few mm wide.

Also - Ian, I've noticed your car uses conventional door hinges. As I've never really got my driver's door to fit satisfactorily I'm thinking about using similar outside hinges as opposed to piano hinges as a) I assume they are adjustable and b) they look great. Have you any info or advice for me please?

Hi again Rob - re the door hinges, my Bulldog is a Mk2 and has totally different shaped doors to yours, and mine hinges on the horizontal plane, whereas yours hinges slightly upwards in line with the windscreen. My door hinges would look a little strange as they would have to be positioned pointing upwards in line with the current door hinge. And, they are not adjustable, apart from maybe drilling elongated holes, which is not really a good idea as they need all the strength that they can get from the mountings. Overall I would suggest that you keep the piano hinges and persist with fiddling/fettling with them a bit to get a better fitting. Regarding the running boards, I fitted ribbed rubber on my running boards rather than strips, which are easily available per Keith's comment.
