Hi Paul,
As usual Ian is correct ( he's got a thousand years experince). It is definitely a MKIII but the sidelights are not limited to the MK , decisions like that were left to the owner but there are quite a few differences between the models.
MKI had rounded grill and no doors.
MKII had doors , at least some of them did. Early ones were different from later ones but still classed as MKII but neither had round grill.
MKIII had different end of bonnet shape and all had doors.
MKIV was Cortina based and had wider running boards , it also has more room around the pedals for big footed so and so's like me.
MKV also Cortina based but did not have the "side vents" on the engine bay.

And now of course you will see that there are those out there who will prove me wrong.

Membership will be in the post tomorrow.

Regards

Thank you Keith - I seem to be getting older by the minute....
I Think you have got the Mk's right, although there are a few little anomalies that Den and Bill threw in over the years, for example the one and only Mk1 with doors, which was the prototype, and I think one or two Marina based Mk4's, which Den called the Mk3 and a half. My memory might well be wrong on those though as they would have looked a bit strange with the wider track body and narrow rear axle, but maybe it used a cortina rear axle? Seeing Mk2's without the (optional at the time) doors always looks wrong to me!

It's not the age it's the experience. I think with all the minor changes that were made to the Bulldogs over the years the MKV should really be the MKIX or MKX. I think I'd have had Paul confused enough with the bit that I gave him.
