I seem to be having a bit of a problem with fitting an air filter atop my 'Weber' twin choke (DGAS) carb without it denting the bonnet or punching a hole right through it.  Any sensible alternative suggestions would be most welcome - please.

Hi Roger

I used an Edelbrock filter from Real Steel, and made an adaptor plate so it seals against the carb. I think you can get a bottom plate with a recess for the top of the carb, so it sits lower.
Have you tried Burtons to see if the have anything suitable?

Thanks Stu,

Yes, it helps - thanks - I'll try both of those 'leads'; all I've thought of so far was using a 'remote' one - a K&N "induction kit" I think they're called, then some ducting / plenum to the carb top.

I didn't see you at Exeter!!!   Grin

Hi Roger
Thanks for the email, very true Grin.

I went to Exeter, but only because the Cobra Club used some of my extension leads and I needed them on the Monday, so was only there on Sunday afternoon. Wasn't impressed by the show, but I think the weather kept people away. Would be a lot better if they moved it forwards a few weeks, maybe then it wouldn't poor down all weekend, actually given our weather it probably would.

Hi Stu,

I've just heard last night & checked this morning that the Exeter 2010 show is going to be 23/ 24 October - see http://www.car-shows.co.uk/exeterkit.htm !  It was a shame that 2009 was so WET & also with a rather chilly breeze.  May be it will be better in October - a few weeks earlier, as your suggestion.

Hi Roger the air filter i use on my v6 with a dgas weber is a pipercross px300 range from bertons i had to cut the strengthening bars
on the underside of the bonnet to give it a bit of room but you mite have more room with the 3000 bonnet hope this helps.
