Hi Pete,
The only thing I needed to do for my revcounter when I installed it was flick the switch on the back that selected how many cylinders my engine has. Might be worth a quick look in case yours is the same!
Cheers, Simon

Pete - I will look up the diagrams for all the variants fitted to Marinas that I think we published in the Breed - and also from the workshop manuals. Trouble is that there are a couple of different types of "rev counter", "impulse tachometer" that were fitted to the Marinas and that are available as after market types. Also the rev counter has only a 20/80% chance of working if you have electronic ignition as a converter may be needed. The most common one fitted to the Marina was the current type, which relied on the current going through the instrument between the distributor and the coil. These leads (on the standard loom) are both white and go into bullet connections on the back, one male, one female. The instrument must be earthed and have power, and a panel light, so these have a total of five connections on the back. The impluse type will only have power, earth, panel light, and ONE lead to the coil.
On a totally different tack, I have a feeling that all Marinas sent over the pond were six cylinder cars? I may be wrong, but if that is the case the one you have will never work properly.
More to follow - watch this space..............
